SAGA Jomsvikings Hearthguard Unit

A Saga unit today! The first Hearthguards from my Jomsviking warband are ready. These three miniatures are the Jomsviking warriors of the Jarl Sigvaldi GB product. I completed the unit by using an army standard bearer of the WG ancient Celts because I didn't have a fourth Jomsviking warrior. I bought this Celt warrior miniature many years ago and since then it was kept in a drawer together with many other unused miniatures!

The three Jomviking Hearthguards

On the photo the color of the eyes brings in mind the GoT, in reality though they are not so bright!

My fearless warrior with his "fearful" eyes!

And now, the historic inaccuracy: the fourth warrior of the unit is an ancient Celt! I didn't want to convert this miniature. I like it as it is with its Celtic pole. I just added some beard and made the hair longer. After that, I used the same colors as for the other three warriors and painted the Celtic boar figurine "Gunmetal Metal" instead of "Brass". I am more or less happy with the result. Anyway, none of my friends will oppose the idea to use it as a Jomsviking!

Dwarf rangers WIP

These are my last twelve rangers that will reinforce my army of Dwarves. As of now, I have 48 dwarf rangers, 2 dwarf ranger heroes and the named character of Drar. I think I am good!

The family photo

This time I converted almost all of the twelve rangers. I gave shields to rangers who carry throwing weapons, changed the two-hand axes with spears, erased the straps of their leather vests, changed some hands, added furs on their coats, etc. The Celtic shields, the helmet and the pagan pole are pieces of a Celtic warriors sprue of Warlord games. So, let's start.

The Hero

I put the hero on a rock to distinguish him from the rest dwarf rangers. The "rock" is just pieces of balsa wood covered with putty. I gave him also a Celtic warrior's helmet, which is hung from his belt. I used green stuff to add a crown of fur to the helmet.

Since I had a Celtic banner pole and I didn't want another dwarf with a flag, I converted the below ranger into the banner bearer.

Next are the dwarf rangers, to whom I gave Celtic shields.

He is an ex-two-handed weapon ranger. I switched his right hand with the one of the above banner bearer.

I switched the upper parts of the two-handed axes with a spearhead of a Rohirrim, or the blades of Orc swords. I also added some furs and gave a Celtic shield to two of the rangers .

The spearhead is an Orc sword blade.

Finally, I used green stuff to erase the straps from the leather vests of the four archers, to add some hair and fur to their coats.

Orcs

Two years ago I bought nineteen second-hand Orcs. My intention was to convert a rhinoceros of the "Schleich toys" to a Great Rhino-beast and for that I needed a crew of ten Orc warriors, nine as archers and one as the driver. After the Rhino was ready, I put the rest nine Orc warriors in a drawer.
Recently, I decided to paint them and use them as reinforcements! So, I divided them in three groups, one with swords, one with spears and the last one with axes.

Orcs with axes. The warrior in the middle has an axe of a dwarf ranger!

Orcs with spears

To avoid duplication, I switched the heads of the two warriors that you can see below:

And the last one is the Orc with a spear of a Minas-Tirith warrior and the shield of a warrior of the Dead.
